“TIME FOR A NEW KASHRUT?” CREATING A CONTEMPORARY JEWISH FOOD ETHIC: SHAVUOT/ Landwirth Memorial Lecture
Diane Litwin, daughter of members Linda Philips & Chaim Litwin, grew up at Congregation Or Shalom. Upon earning a degree in elementary education she became a teacher with the Teva Learning Alliance, an educational program that teaches about Judaism’s approach to the environment. She later spent two years working as a farm educator at the Jewish Farm Camp in Eden Village, New York - a sleep-away camp that promotes an environmentally sustainable world. Diane taught people of all ages there about the connections between agriculture and Judaism. She now spends her days teaching at Common Ground Farm, an Environmental Education Center and High School in New Haven, CT.
