In tribute to the late Stacy Phillips, his band, The Bluegrass Characters, will continue the tradition of their annual December 24th show. Although Phillips died after a heart attack in early June, The Bluegrass Characters have continued to perform. This performance will include Betsy Rome on vocals and flat top guitar; Phil Zimmerman on mandolin; Rick Brodsky on bass; Jerry Oland on banjo; and Sofia Chiarandini, one of Stacy's favorite students, on fiddle.
The performance will be at Beth El - Keser Israel in New Haven, as it was last year. The doors will open at 7 PM on Monday, December 24, and the music will begin at 7:30 PM.
While the performance is free, The Bluegrass Characters will pass the hat for tips. Food that is ordered in advance from Westville Kosher Market will be available at the show. Orders must be placed and paid for by noon that day; call Westville Kosher at (203) 389-1166. Beverages and cookies will be available at BEKI in exchange for separate cash donations.
