Congregation Mishkan Israel is proud to announce its annual fundraising concert presented by Cantor Arthur Giglio on Saturday, April 29 at 7:30 p.m. Doors will be open at 7:00 p.m. This special event, An Evening of Hope and Joy, features the captivating ensemble Pharaoh’s Daughter, led by the dynamic Basya Schechter. Enjoy an evening of Jewish music from this extraordinary group, “a world music ensemble that travels effortlessly through continents, key signatures, and languages with a genre-bending sound. Basya Schechter’s earthy, soulful beautiful voice rings out over instruments that form a vibrant collage of East/West, Ashkenaz a vision of a new Middle East.” Jewish music has always been an amalgam of musical styles stemming from wherever Jews settled in diaspora, and Pharaoh's Daughter blurs the lines of Jewish music by incorporating sounds and music from the entire spectrum of world music. Pharaoh's Daughter takes all these styles and makes them their own. It will be an inspiring evening.
This program appeals to all ages. Advance ticket sales are available online at: cmihamden.org.
