PJ Library Presents: Good Deeds & Dunes Day

PJ Library families will get together at Walnut Beach for a great science project and to seed native plants for the Dune Renewal at Walnut Beach. Planting native plants help facilitate dune resiliency from erosion and provide habitat for wildlife & pollinators.

Parking Information:

Free parking and shuttles from the Silver Sands beach back parking lot entrance will be available at 2:15 and 2:45 PM. Non-Milford residents are welcome to park at Walnut Beach street meters at $2.50/hr. You may also park in the beach parking lot for $20/day. Please arrive early as space will be limited due to a 4 PM concert. Meet at the Pavillion on the far end of the beach. Follow PJ Library signs.
 

Event Schedule: 

2:30 PM - Arrive and meet families; enjoy the beach. 

3 PM -  Hear from family-friendly nature reserve expert Steve Johnson who will explain the ecological benefit and importance of dunes and native vegetation to preserve our beaches. Afterward, we will begin to plant native flowers & shrubs. Please wear appropriate clothing, hats & sunscreen and please bring kids shovels & work gloves if you have them (some available upon advance RSVP).

3:30 PM – Meet the animals and explore the tides with founder of Little Scientists Dr. Heidi Dworkin.
