The JCC of Greater New Haven is excited to present the Beckerman Jewish Film Series April 7-May 18, 2016: a diverse collection of Jewish and Israeli films to be shown in the Greater New Haven area, including Cheshire, Hamden, Woodbridge, Madison, and New Haven. The films selected explore a variety of comedic, dramatic, historical, and modern themes, both classics and new releases. Partnering with the JCC is a host of community organizations across the region: The Jewish Federation’s Shoreline and Women’s Philanthropy departments; Jewish Business League; Yale University (Judaic Studies, Whitney Humanities Center & Slifka Center); Anti-Defamation League, Tower One Tower East; Temple Beth David of Cheshire, Shoreline Hadassah, Best Video Film and Cultural Center (Hamden); and Madison Art Cinemas. The JCC also received $5,000 in grant support from CT Humanities.

In a pinch, Nat Dyan reluctantly enlists the help of teenager Ayyash, a Muslim refugee from Darfur to assist him in his ailing bakery. When Ayyash one day accidentally drops his cannabis stash into the dough, the challah starts flying off the shelf. DOUGH is a warmhearted and gently humorous story about overcoming prejudice and finding redemption in unexpected places.
