We may not have access to our newly opened Hoos Family Art Gallery, but that won't stop us from connecting together over culture in our own backyard! Pour your cup of coffee and connect with local artists from the comfort of your own home. Send your questions in advance or ask live during the 30 minute sessions. Artist Description

Leah Caroline was raised in the Chassidic community of Crown Heights, Brooklyn. She  received her BFA at Lyme Academy of Fine Arts and currently lives and works in New Haven, CT. Her works are nature journals; collections and records of plants, life, and her pregnant self. She makes cyanotype scrolls—an early photographic printing process used to record nature and make blueprints—as well as scanner photograms, and drawings. She often includes Hebrew texts, especially of Song of Songs, as well as her own writings.

Caroline is currently working on a taxonomy of pregnancy, motherhood and a woman’s continually changing body. She is also a member of Make Haven in New Haven, where she experiments with wood and laser etching, and is making miniature sacred boxes to house her scrolls.

Caroline’s exhibits include solo exhibitions and a commission by Artspace Inc. for site-responsive work for City Wide Open Studios in New Haven, CT.  Caroline has been an artist in residence, including at Weir Farm in Wilton, CT and with Art Kibbutz on Governors Island.
