Not going to camp is more than missing fun in the sun  . . .
it's missing out on a chance to build a better life.

In past years, my husband Barry sent you letters extolling the magic of camp; how summers at the JCC day camp have provided potentially life-changing positive experiences for campers.

Sadly, we have lost our magician. Barry Vine believed firmly in the value of camp, based on his own experiences as a JCC Camp scholarship recipient in the 1950s. Camp provided him with treasured memories of new friends while wonderful counselors and mentors who broadened his horizons and provided lots and lots of fun. The magic of camp so profoundly changed and influenced his life that as an adult, he wanted to ensure that all children in need would have the same opportunities. Over the years, he raised thousands of dollars to provide children with camp scholarships. Our community has been instrumental in realizing this dream and, in the wake of Barry’s passing, this program remains more important than ever. Though Barry is no longer with us, we ask you to please help us continue Barry’s legacy and guarantee the future of the Send a Kid to Camp program.

Our daughters, Ilana and Glenna, were JCC campers in the early 1990s continuing a family tradition. Please help make this incredible experience available to all families.

Let’s keep Barry’s spirit alive by providing magical experiences and opportunities for a new generation of campers. Your generosity can change a child’s life.

Best wishes for a happy summer,

Hyla Vine
