Message to the Community from CEO Judy Alperin Diamondstein

Dear Friends,

We are a full day since the fire broke out in our beautiful home.   The JCC is truly at the heart of our greater New Haven community and that has been made crystal clear through an overflowing outpouring of love from community agencies, synagogues, non-profits, school districts, town officials, Federations from across the state and beyond and the folks at our national office, Jewish Federations of North America.

We've been offered facilities, services, food, cleaning help and more.  This is truly what community is all about.

From the moment our staff sprung into action to calmly and efficiently evacuate the building until now, we have worked with you in mind.  We know that you rely on us to provide excellent childcare and education, quality afterschool and enrichment activities, the best personal training in the area, fitness activities and sports and we know that we are the central address for folks to meet and learn and discuss.  We intend to continue to be that special place and will get back on our feet as soon as possible.

The fire and the water that was necessary to contain it caused significant damage to our lower level.  We are working hard with community partners to provide swimming, fitness and sports activities.  Please check our website www.jccnh.org and Facebook for updates.

If you or your children require counseling or support, such resources are available through Jewish Family Service and other community practitioners.  Confidentially reach out:  jdiamondstein@jewishnewhaven.org

The Yeladim and Afterschool programs will be relocated to Congregation B'nai Jacob, 75 Rimmon Road in Woodbridge.  We are incredibly appreciative of how they rallied to support us.  It should be known that they were not the only congregation who offered classrooms, meeting space and support and we are thankful to all.

Tomorrow our dedicated and caring staff will work to effectuate the transition to B'nai Jacob and prepare to welcome the children that they already miss so much.  We will not know until tomorrow if we will be granted license to operate beginning Thursday or Friday.  We greatly appreciate patience and understanding and are confident that it is understood that we are working feverishly to make the move happen seamlessly.

If you have any questions or concerns please do not hesitate to contact me- jdiamondstein@jewishnewhaven.org

With the hope that our best days lie ahead and with deepest appreciation,

Judy Alperin Diamondstein
