New and unique in the landscape of community centers, the interdisciplinary MakerSpace will merge Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM) to spark learning and foster self-expression for all ages. The space will feature both "neat" and "messy" areas to accommodate activities ranging from woodworking, ceramics, computer programming, internet classes, sewing, and more. Under the direction of a tenured educator in partnership with the JCC's Programming Department, the curriculum and operating model will include single-day workshops and multi-session classes for students of all ages, as well as open-studio times for self-driven "makers."
