Become a Friend of the J. Support YOUR Community Today!

Dear Friend,

We nurture connections between people throughout Greater New Haven. Our building is designed with spaces for people to meet, socialize, share ideas and make connections. Our programs strive to build people to people connections that enrich lives.

Through Friends of the J campaign, we seek to raise funds to sustain some of our most important and impactful programmings. With your help, the JCC will continue to build connections for people across the diverse spectrum of our community.

  • Friends of the J helps open the door to our wonderful programs like JCC Day Camps, early childhood education and afterschool programs. This is especially so, for the 80 participants who receive needs-based scholarships.

  • Friends of the J enables us to provide access and programming to adults and children with disabilities.

  • Friends of the J supports cultural arts; including film, author talks, theatre, and visual arts.

Friends are welcome to give to the JCC throughout the year but November 15 through January 15 is a special time to donate. During this period anyone who donates a minimum of $100 will be entered into the Friends of the J Raffle (see information below). Friends of the J will be celebrated at an event on January 26. Details to follow.

Be a Friend and help us continue to build a better JCC!

Why do I play Mahjong every week at the JCC?

Because the JCC is my home. We moved to the area when the kids were little. They attended the Beverly Levy Early Learning Center (then Yeladim) and went to the JCC summer day camp as well. We raised our family here. Our children are grown and have moved out of our home, but we remain connected to the J.

In a very real sense, the JCC is the beating heart of this community. It is a place where the community converges to get the essential services they need - like childcare, fitness, or community events. It is also a place where you can make lifelong friends. I give to Friends of the J because I care about this home and I want to see it thriving for generations to come.

The JCC is a lifeline for me.

I have attended classes for several years , and I am now physically stronger and feel wonderful. There is a nice array of classes but the best part is the trainers, who are exceptionally skilled and caring.  Without meaning to, I've made many new friendships - the camaraderie in sweating through classes is strong - and this includes the friendships I have made with the trainers. When the JCC had to close for renovation after the fire, I ran into members everywhere and was always greeted with a smile and usually a hug. It was striking to see how everyone was so happy to see each other.  The JCC is a true community center with a diversity of members as well as age groups.  I cannot imagine my life without the J.
