On May 2, 1979, four survivors gave testimony to Dr. Dori Laub and Laurel Vlock at Dr. Laub’s office on Howard Avenue in New Haven. It was the first taping of survivors on video by what would become the Holocaust Survivors Film Project — the predecessor to the Fortunoff Video Archive. Join us at the Whitney Humanities Center for a screening of excerpts from the first four testimonies recorded in New Haven – 40 years prior to the day. Lawrence Langer, Emeritus Professor of English at Simmons College and Joanne W. Rudof, Archivist Emeritus, Fortunoff Video Archive for Holocaust Testimonies, will offer their insights into the significance of these first four testimonies.

This event is part of the 2019 event series by the Fortunoff Video Archive for Holocaust Testimonies, Yale University.
