Amy Nelson, Camp Director
Amy began her journey in camping back in 2010, working at a residential summer camp right here in Connecticut for several years. She later made a career pivot to pursue a Master’s degree in Applied Behavior Analysis, focusing her work on supporting adults with complex behavioral needs.
In early 2025, Amy felt a strong pull to return to the camping world and was thrilled to accept a position at JCC Day Camps. She and her family are active members of the JCC community, and you’ll often see her around the building during the off-season in her role as Program Director, overseeing the Sport and Recreation Department.
During the summer, Amy can be found walking the campgrounds, fully immersed in the camp spirit and ensuring the smooth operation of daily activities. She is passionate about creating meaningful experiences for children at camp.

Each bunk is overseen by a Counselor and Junior Counselor as well as a Unit Head. Our summer staff is dedicated to creating a caring and safe environment for your child to have a memorable summer!
